PowerNex|Product Upgrade Notice: USB 3.2 GEN 2 Type-C Cable Rebrand & Upgrade Announcement
Date:2024/03/11

Earlier in 2022, the European Parliament and the European Council reached a consensus on adopting USB Type-C as the universal standard for electronic devices. By 2024, USB Type-C had officially become this universal standard, with even non-EU member states such as Switzerland pledging to adhere to it. Moreover, from 2026 onwards, laptops sold within the EU must be equipped with USB Type-C ports. This unified interface standard aims to enhance consumer convenience, minimize electronic waste, and alleviate the inconvenience of finding compatible chargers.
Under the MEAN WELL brand, products have undergone an upgrade from the previous high-speed 10Gbps and 100W fast charging capabilities to now support 240W (with an increased output of 48V), compatible with the PD3.1 fast charging protocol. This advancement allows for higher-power charging and faster speeds, no longer confined to low-power devices like phones, cameras, keyboards, mice, and headphones. Instead, it caters to a diverse range of electronics, including laptops, audio systems, gaming consoles, household appliances, high-power electronics, and power tools.
